How does one create an extraterrestrial creature? Well, I go about it like this:

1. Decide what kind of creature it is
2. Decide what real creature on our planet it resembles
3. tweak it a bit
4. Make it believable

I had the concept of 'cat people' in my head before I even started writing. It is only after all the story telling was established that I started wondering what these creatures looked like. There are several reasons for this.

1. I wanted to get a feeling for how the creatures lived on this planet
2. I had to figure out what era of technology that they live in, in relation to our own
3. I wanted to make the descriptions in the story vague and short, to allow the reader to create their own vision

Currently, I'm painting the cover-art of Adventures in Raoolia in which I'm depicting the main character, Denzcan/Master RRandoll at the moment when he discovers the meteorite that will bestow ultimate power upon him. I really am making it a point to sell to the audience that he is based on a cat, tiger if you will, but isn't a cat. Therefore, features on his body will be exaggerated, and others will be invented.

Tigrens are 10 feet tall, bipedal, and have hands similar to ours, so there are some things that I have to blend between what a cat would have and what a humanoid would have in order to invent any type of technology, albeit swords and plows, crossbows, castles, chisels, etc.
